Learn about Makeup with us!
May 29th, 2009 by Editor 1

Have you ever looked at celebrities and models and wondered how they look so great all the time?  Their secret is an army of makeup artists who work on their face and skin until they look perfect.

Now you can learn these secrets at Abbey College. Together with LA Makeup Academy, we are running a  Media Make-up and Beauty Studies course starting on June 2nd.  This FETAC level 5 course will teach you everything you need to know about working in the makeup industry.

LA Makeup is a professional makeup school in Dublin, recognised as one of the best! You will train with experienced makeup artists under Lorraine  O Neill who has worked in London, Paris and Sydney.  Your teachers have worked with magazines like Elle, Marie-Claire and Vogue. And on films such as Moulin Rouge and King Arthur and music videos for Mundy and Chloe Sevigny.

The course is divided into 4 modules:

  • English for the Media Make-up and Beauty Industry (7 weeks)
  • Fashion and Media Make-up (7 weeks)
  • Customer Service (7 weeks)
  • Skin & Cosmetic Studies (7 weeks)

In the first module you will learn the difference between dewy and moist skin, between peach, pastel and pale for example plus the names of all the makeup tools used in the practical modules which include two professional photo-shoot days. Exams are at the end of each module so you are learning all the time.

Who can take it?

Everyone who wants to learn about makeup. If you have a Student Visa, then it’s a full-time one year course with 20 hours of study every week. If you don’t need a Student Visa, then you can just take the modules which you need.  Look here for full details!

Do you think you would make a good makeup artist? :)
